My story begins in Târgu Mureș. I was born into a family of doctors and pharmacists, in a city that, at the time, only had one university – the University of Medicine. After high school, it's not hard to guess, I chose to study medicine. My father was an elegant, meticulous man, impeccably dressed in a white hospital suit, with the charisma and authority of a doctor. I wanted to be like him…
After university, I was inspired to follow the example of my mother, one of Romania's first female entrepreneurs with businesses in retail, distribution, and pharmaceutical production – a visionary, optimistic, and extremely courageous woman. My passion for cosmetics began in childhood, when I would enter the pharmacy and watch my mother prepare her own creams in the laboratory. All her friends and my aunts used them.
Discovering dermatocosmetics in Paris
Much later, in Paris, where I studied pharmaceutical marketing, I started experiencing very sensitive skin for the first time. My friends, Sophie and Nassima, who were also doctors, advised me to use dermatocosmetics – pharmacy products, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, tested not to cause allergies.
It was then that I discovered on their shelves, French cosmetic brands with thermal water, soothing and anti-irritant for the skin. Subsequently, in my work, I became aware of the increasing number of people with sensitive skin and allergies, and I wanted to create products that would treat skin problems.
The Birth of Ivatherm
As our country is known and recognized for its thermal and mineral springs, I began to search and analyze the composition of thermal waters in Romania. In Herculane, I found a thermo-saline spring with a unique composition, very rich in minerals and trace elements.
After countless clinical studies demonstrating the soothing and anti-irritant effect of thermal water on the skin, in 2005, I created Ivatherm – the first Romanian brand of dermatocosmetics dedicated to sensitive skin. All Ivatherm products contain Herculane thermal water and innovative active ingredient cocktails adapted to the skin's needs.
The dermatologists we work with today have conducted countless clinical studies demonstrating the benefits of Herculane thermal water, the main ingredient of our products.
From Romania to the World
Currently, the second-largest market for Ivatherm products is China. Sensitive skin is very common there, especially due to pollution. 80% of our sales in China are sprays with Herculane thermal water.
Whenever I'm in Shanghai, at all meetings with my Chinese partners, during coffee breaks, men and women, we cool ourselves with Herculane thermal water, which is soothing and anti-irritant. There's a very interesting water culture in Asia, and many rituals revolve around water.
Also in Asia, in the Philippines, entering the door of our current partner, Eyskin, for the first time, Ruby, a Filipino woman of Chinese descent, eccentric, refined, elegant, passionate about dance, and owner of many aesthetic medicine clinics, tells me:
"My face feels tight, I can't put anything on it… I'll try your water… if it helps me, we'll distribute your brand!"
And that's what happened. Today, we sell Ivatherm products, especially Herculane thermal water, in all Flawless clinics in the Philippines.
